Hello! My name is Tenia and I am ten years young! 

I was rescued in June 2020 by one of the DASH Dogs volunteers who found me wandering dangerously close to a very busy highway. 

The kind volunteer wanted to encourage me to get the safety but when he got close enough to me, he realised I had a very big tumour under my belly and took me back to the shelter. 

I was also covered in ticks.

The vets were really worried about operating on me given my age – I’m no spring chicken- but luckily the surgery went well, and my tumour was removed successfully. 

Whilst I was asleep, I was given a thorough assessment and unfortunately, I have cancer in other places around my body. 

The vets didn’t want to increase the surgery time and risk me being under anaesthesia for any longer. 

I am a survivor and I’m quite a tough old lady – I’ve been roaming the streets of Greece for years. 

The DASH Dogs team are going to look after me until I become very unwell, and I have made a home here. 

I don’t want anybody to feel sorry for me because I feel like I’m very lucky to have landed here in the shelter. 

DASH Dogs is my safe haven. 

I don’t have to worry about humans shooing me away, I get fed and don’t have to hunt and scavenge, I get lots of cuddles and the medicine the people give me makes me feel better.

I also have all these friends to play with and I don’t have to worry about navigating on my own and avoiding cars. 

I feel safe here at DASH Dogs and when it’s my time to cross the bridge I will be happy to have known love and safety.
