How does adopting a rescue dog work?

Once we've confirmed that the dog you'd like to adopt is all ready, we'll start the ball rolling

Someone will be in touch to give you all the necessary information and to ensure you’re ready for the commitment of adopting a DASH dog, all with the best interests of both you and the dog in mind.

Health checks and tests are carried out prior to our dogs leaving the shelter, examining them for any medical issues, while also being wormed and treated for fleas. A home visit will be carried out by one of our volunteers before the adoption is finalised.

Once we have arranged the dog’s passport, we’ll begin preparing the transport, and you’ll be kept updated all the way, right up to when you welcome them to their forever home.

What to expect when you adopt a DASH dog

Every dog is different, but due to the nature in which the dogs at DASH are looked after, they make fantastic family pets. Constant interaction with loving volunteers and permanent contact with other dogs means they are already used to both people and their canine counterparts.

In general, rescue dogs require a period of adjustment and some training to settle into their new home, but it is so rewarding to see them grow in confidence and begin to love the new life you have given them.

How much does it cost to adopt a rescue dog?

The donation we receive when you adopt a DASH dog goes entirely on paying for medical examinations and treatment, vaccinations and transportation. No profit is made by DASH.

Costs may vary but will be approximately £650.
